Winter Training Institute – November 30, 2012 – Eatontown Sheraton – Eatontown NJ

The NJAFPA is proud to, once again, offer the NJ public school community its 2012 Winter Training Institute. This is an event filled with some of the top speakers and presenters in the nation as well as high ranking officials of the New Jersey Department of Education. The event is scheduled for November 30th, 2012 at the Eatontown Sheraton in Eatontown NJ. As usual it is recommended that all potential attendees register early as we expect high demand for this event. The event will begin with special greetings by the NJDOE's Deputy Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Tracey Severns. Dr. Severns will share her vision for leading NJ public schools towards compliance of all newly initiated federal and state educational legislation. The Winter Training Institute will begin with Keynote Speaker Dr. Ernest Morrell of Teachers College of Columbia University. Dr. Morrell will discuss issues in literacy facing all school districts and provide proven strategies to improve literacy across all social classifications. Attendees will then be welcome to attend one of several work sessions which includes; Ms. Karen Campbell, the NJDOE's Director of Title I Program Director and Accountability, discussing how new federal regulations affect Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, Ms. Raquel Sinai, the NJDOE's Bilingual and ESL Coordinator, who will be providing critical updates on ESL/Bilingual Federal and State Policies, Mr. Evan Linhardt, the NJDOE's Project Manager for Race to the Top 3, offering Updates on the Race to the Top 3 program and insight on future developments of the program and finally, Dr. Peter Rillero of Arizona State University, who will be presenting "Deep Conceptual Learning in Mathematics and Science Education: The Common Core Catalyst for Life Changing Achievement". Attendees can expect to take away a wealth of practical information to be used in their districts. This is an event that should be attended by all senior administration for districts state wide.

The NJAFPA is proud to have Deputy Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Tracey Severns open the Winter Training Institute with greetings to all attendees. This is an excellent opportunity for all members of the NJ public School community to come see, in person, this important high ranking NJDOE member. Dr. Severns plans to share her vision and goals Deputy Chief Academic Officer. Be sure to register for the Association's Spring Training Institute for May 29 and May 30, 2013 at Harrah's Atlantic City, NJ, as Dr. Severns will be the Keynote Speaker for Day 2.
